Homages Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order put a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public figures offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have stepped in when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
