Kai Trump can count on plenty of well-known cheerleaders when she begins her professional golf debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, received a special exemption to compete at the Annika tournament in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, possesses multiple international courses and frequently competes against Kai.
"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we play tight competitions," she stated.
The golfer shared that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Simply don't get nervous."
"My grandpa practically told me to compete and have fun," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's simply a regular grandfather. He's not attending for the tournament. He's busy with world affairs, making him quite busy."
While still amateur, Kai has participated in a mere three competitions this year and holds position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
Yet she can seek guidance from golf legend, who is dating her mother.
"He stands as the greatest golfer globally," Kai stated.
"And he's a more impressive individual. He advised me to play, have fun, and go with the flow."
The golfer will compete against some of most prominent players in the sport at the competition, such as world number two Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.
Tournament organizers commented that involving Kai brings the sport to wider groups, particularly with the next generation.
The young star maintains millions of followers and just introduced an exclusive fashion and living company.
Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
